Please be advised that Canada Post service disruptions will delay the delivery of important documents. We recommend staying on track by logging in to your secure Alberta Student Aid account, MyLoan account and NSLSC.ca account to access your loans information and sign up for digital services if you are not already. If you are not set up for direct deposit, please do so now to avoid delays in receiving your funds.
A Canada Post strike will affect students sending or receiving documents through the mail. See Canada Post's labour negotiations updates for more information.
This page will be updated as further information becomes available. Check back for more information.
Students will not receive any documents from Alberta Student Aid by mail during the postal strike.
Electronic correspondence between Advanced Education and the public is not affected by the postal strike. Students can continue using the e-Document Upload feature in their Alberta Student Aid account.
Students who have chosen paper as their preferred correspondence method are encouraged to update their preference to email in their MyLoan account, National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) account and Alberta Student Aid account.
Scholarship applications and cheques
Scholarships application forms continue to be available for download from the Scholarships section of the Alberta Student Aid website. Students can submit completed applications and supporting documents through the eDocuments Upload feature in their Alberta Student Aid accounts.
Applicants who wish to send paper documents to Alberta Studnet Aid during the postal strike must do so by courier, at the applicant's expense. Please note, paper applications and documents cannot be dropped off in person at Alberta Student Aid offices during the postal strike.
Scholarship cheques will be held by Alberta Student Aid until the strike is over. Unfortunately, the systems that Advanced Education uses to manage scholarships do not allow for scholarship funding to be dispersed though electronic fund transfer (EFT).
If a student is in an emergency financial situation regarding their scholarship cheque, they can email the Scholarships inbox at ae.albertascholarships@gov.ab.ca and submit a request to have their scholarship cheque sent to them by courier.
- Students will be requested to confirm their current address where they can physically receive and sign for their cheque(s).
- Processing of scholarship cheques may take up to two weeks from the date of request and provision of address information.
- Cheques will be couriered via regular shipping only. Delivery times are dependant on courier schedules for regular shipping.
Alberta Student Aid continues to monitor the strike situation closely, and will update this page as required.
Information for Schools Post-secondary schools must use courier services at their own expense to send disability grant refund cheques to Alberta Student Aid. Courier Address Alberta Student Aid |
