Alberta.ca Account
All students must have a verified Alberta.ca Account to access the online application for student loans, grants and the Alexander Rutherford Scholarship. This is the government services account you created before you made an application in your Alberta Student Aid account or accessed a provincial government service.
Your Alberta.ca Account lets you sign in once and access various online services across government. It also gives you a secure way to verify who you are online without paper documents or face-to-face visits, while protecting your information and privacy. Browse the government services available to you when using your Alberta.ca Account.
What is 2-Step Verification?
The Alberta Government has released a new multi-factor authentication security feature called 2-Step Verification to protect and keep your data secure and prevent unauthorized access to your Alberta.ca Account.
In today’s digital world, passwords alone are no longer enough to keep sensitive information from being stolen or guessed by third parties. That’s where 2-Step Verification comes in. By requiring a second step (a one-time verified code sent to your mobile phone), it adds an extra lock on your account, making it much harder for someone else to access your personal information.
Turning on 2-Step Verification takes only a few minutes—just add your mobile phone to your account and allow a one-time verification code to be sent to your device. You may also use a Google or Microsoft Authenticator app to add a higher level of security.
