Notice: Income verification must be completed for both the student and, where applicable, their spouse or partner before Alberta Student Aid can process the application. Applications for the 2026-27 school year will remain on hold until all required income information has been verified. Your spouse or partner must use the link provided in a letter, which can be downloaded from your secure inbox to access the Income Verification Portal. The spouse\partner income verification process cannot be completed through your own personal account. For details, see Spouse/Partner Income Verification instructions below. |
Follow these steps to successfully verify your income information:
- You will receive an email directing you to login to your Alberta Student Aid account.
- On the Welcome page, select the Income Verification Portal. Read the summary of required actions and select Next Steps. You will be asked to accept a sharing acknowledgement agreement with Alberta Student Aid to determine your full-time funding award.
- Select Click Here and follow the prompts to enter your income information. You will be asked to confirm Line 15000 of last year’s income tax return or expected total income for this year.
- Provide consent for Alberta Student Aid to share your income information with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
And you’re done! You have successfully verified your income. You can return the Income Verification Welcome Page at any time to review the guided steps for income verification.
Spouse/Partner Income Verification
If applicable, your spouse/partner must provide their income information and consent for the CRA to share their income information with Alberta Student Aid.
- These students will receive a letter in their secure inbox containing instructions for their spouse or partner. The spouse or partner must complete the required consent process before the student's funding can be issued.
Alberta.ca Account
To access the Income Verification Portal, the spouse/partner must have their own personal Alberta.ca Account.
- If they already have a personal Alberta.ca Account, then they're all set.
- If they do not have one, they must create an account by visiting Alberta.ca Account and following the registration instructions.
What Spouses/Partners Need to Do
- Enter the Letter Number found in the footer of the letter.
- Consent online for their financial information to be verified with the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Enter required income information through the portal.
If you experience any trouble accessing the verification portal, recheck that you have been given the correct link in the letter or that your personal Alberta.ca Account is activated.
