Alberta Athletic Award

The Government of Alberta is supporting post-secondary students by improving its athletic scholarship and award programs. The new Alberta Athletic Award, which consolidates the following two scholarship programs, will help students pursue athletic excellence at universities, colleges, and technical institutions in Alberta.

  1. Jimmie Condon Athletics Scholarship
  2. Earl and Countess of Wessex – World Championships in Athletics Scholarship

Overall funding for the above athletic scholarships is not reduced by this amalgamation. Students who receive the new Alberta Athletic Award will receive similar amounts, compared to the previous programs.

This amalgamation, supported by stakeholders after consultations with post-secondary institutions and adult learning system partners, makes athletic scholarships more accessible for students studying in Alberta. It also reduces red tape and administrative burden for schools and government by amalgamating a suite of complex scholarships into a streamlined program.
