Electronic documents upload makes it easy to submit documents to Alberta Student Aid. 

  • Easy to use platform with a sequence of dialog boxes walking you through the process.

  • Submit a reason for uploading your documents based on the information being requested, Requests for Review, etc. This allows Alberta Student Aid to process documents faster.

Upload Documents

If you are required to submit documentation with your application, choose Upload Documents after you log in to your Alberta Student Aid account. This allows you to submit documents directly and securely to Alberta Student Aid, removing the need to fax or mail paper.

Instructions for Uploading Fillable Forms:

Fillable PDF forms require Adobe Reader, and are most compatible with Internet Explorer 9.0 and above.

If you are using a different web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox), you must follow these steps to upload your form:

  1. Choose the ‘Save As’ or ‘Download’ option to save the PDF form to your computer.
  2. Use Adobe Reader to re-open and fill in the form.
  3. Check to ensure all forms fields are saved before you begin uploading your form.

General Information

1.  Who can use this service?

Students must log in to their secure accounts to upload documents. Third parties such as financial advisors working at your school cannot upload documents on your behalf.

2. How do I use this service?

Students must have a secure account in the Alberta Student Aid system.

  • Log in to your personal account from your computer or personal device.
  • Select Upload Documents on the main menu.
  • Proceed through the steps to upload scanned documents you have saved to your computer.  
  • The Upload Documents feature allows you to see your submissions and provides a status update for your documents. 

If this is the first time you are applying or you applied using a paper application, you will NOT have access to Upload Documents. You will need to first create a basic MyAlberta Digital Identity account in order to access the Alberta Student Aid system. To create a basic account you need a valid email address.

3.  Can I use fax or email instead of Upload Documents to submit electronic documents?

Creating a basic MyAlberta Digital Identity account in order access the Alberta Student Aid system is recommended. Once your personal account is verified, e-doc Upload is the most secure way of submitting documents to Alberta Student Aid.  

Fax and email are not secure methods for sending confidential information.

Document Requirements

4.  What file formats and file size can I upload? 

  • Accepted file formats are: PDF, JPG (JPEG), GIF and PNG
  • Maximum file size is 4MB

5.  How do I reduce the file size if it’s larger than 4MB?

  • Choose a lower resolution (DPI) for your scanned image
  • Scan colour documents to black/white or grayscale
  • Convert your file(s) to PDF to reduce file size 

6.  How many documents can I upload?

You must select a reason for your eDocument submission. After giving your reason, you can upload up to 10 documents/files per reason.

If you are using Windows with Safari as your browser, you can only upload one document at a time.  

7.  Can I tell you information about the document(s) I have uploaded? 

Use the comments section to provide a short description of the document and the reason for submission. Adding a comment is optional, but the extra information can assist in processing your items. Do not use the comments section to ask a question, or submit comments without attaching a document.

8.  What documents cannot be uploaded?

  • Statutory Declarations for replacement of grant cheques already cashed
  • Any form of payment (cheques or money orders)

Alberta Student Aid cannot accept electronic versions of these documents. Follow the submission instructions on the form.

Submitting eDocuments

9.  How will I know my document upload has been a success?

You will receive a message and a confirmation number for documents that have been successfully uploaded. You can view the documents that have been uploaded/submitted to Alberta Student Aid in your eDocuments History.  

10.  After my electronic documents have been submitted, do I still need to fax/mail the original documents? 

No. Sending duplicate copies may slow down the review of your application/information. Always keep original documents for your records as these may be requested at a later date.

11.  What happens to my eDocuments once they are received? 

Alberta Student Aid will begin to review and process your electronic documents.

To ensure the security of your personal information, we do not temporarily store/retain electronic documents on the Alberta Student Aid system. This means any electronic documents uploaded will no longer be visible to you or any other third party on your user page.

12.  How long does it take to process eDocuments?

Processing times vary according to the type of document submitted. Current processing timelines for full-time applications and Request for Review are provided on the home page.
