Types of Funding

The Alberta and Canada governments provide student loans and grants to help you reach your post-secondary educational goals.

When you apply as a full-time student, you are considered for both Alberta
and Canada student loans and grants. Financial assistance is also available for students studying part-time.

Loan eligibility is determined based on your financial need. You repay your loans once you graduate or leave school, after a 6 month grace period where no payments are required.

Grants are awarded based on financial need or to those who require special financial assistance. Grants do not have to be repaid, unless your eligibility changes.

Grants available:

Grant Overpayments

If you withdraw from full-time or part-time studies within 30 days of your start date, your grant will be converted to a loan and added to your loan balance. If you withdraw more than 30 days from your start date, a calculation will be done to determine if all or part of any grants you received should be considered an overpayment.
