Register for Training

Alberta Student Aid offers in-person training for staff from schools, Alberta Advanced Education, and other Government of Alberta staff who work with post-secondary students receiving student aid. There are currently three courses available. 

SA101: Student Aid Basics

An overview of Alberta Student Aid's full-time program. Topics include:

    • Provincial and federal funding programs
    • Types of loan and grant funding
    • Eligibility requirements for students, programs and schools

Duration: One full-day
Prerequisite: None

SA104: Funding for Students with Permanent Disabilities

School staff must attend this course to be authorized to sign the Schedule 4. Topics include:

    • Types of funds available for students with permanent disabilities
    • How to complete the Schedule 4
    • Information and resources for disability advisors

Duration: Half-day
Prerequisite: SA101: Student Aid Basics

SA106: Part-time Funding

A look at Alberta Student Aid's part-time program. Topics include:

    • Eligibility and applications
    • Types of Funding
    • Role of school advisors 
    • Repayment  

Duration: Half-day
Prerequisite: SA101: Student Aid Basics

SA201: Educational Institution Essentials

Designed specifically for staff at private and public post-secondary schools with a focus on systems and business practices. Topics include:

    • Designation requirements
    • Confirmation of registration procedures
    • Loan repayment

Duration: One full-day
Prerequisite: SA101: Student Aid Basics

SA202: Information for Private Career Colleges

This course provides essential information and best-practices for representatives and owners of private vocational schools. Topics include:

    • Reporting withdrawals and refunding tuition
    • Amending registration
    • Repayment rates
    • Loan repayment strategies

Duration: One full-day
Prerequisite: SA101: Student Aid Basics
